🕳️ The road to the galamsey pits

2026-10-16 · Accra Life update #289

🕳️ Going to the Bonsa River pits? Past Tarkwa the tar ends: a red-clay road with deep ruts, gravel and potholes full of muddy water. Your car bounces and rolls on its springs, red dust billows behind you, mud splashes out of the potholes and cakes the bottom of your car. The further you go, the worse it gets: cocoa farms give way to snapped and fallen trees, open pits, gravel heaps and dust haze, and the stream beside the road turns from blue to thick brown silt. Changfa pumps smoke on the bank, an excavator digs, sluice boards are stacked by the water and miners walk the road with their shovels. Galamsey destroys the land and the water 💔 STOP GALAMSEY.

Newer: Ride-hail and taxi rides, from the back seat
