Moderator guide
Moderators are players who volunteer to keep All Accra chat friendly and safe from spam and scams. Here's what they do, and how to become one.
The badges
| Team | The Accra Life staff. |
| 🛡️ Moderator | Trusted volunteers. Remove messages, mute, handle reports and scam reports. |
| 🔰 Trial moderator | New moderators, for their first 2 weeks. Same as moderators, but they can't move money (scam reports) or pin messages. |
| 🎥 Creator | Players who make videos and posts about Accra Life. A badge, not a moderator. |
What to remove (🗑)
- Scams: "send me MoMo and I'll double it", fake giveaways, selling things for real money.
- Phone numbers and personal info (the game hides most numbers automatically, so remove what gets through).
- Insults, threats, hate about tribe, religion, gender or anything else, in any language.
- Sexual content, and anything involving under-18s. Always mute for 24 hours and tell the team.
- Spam: the same message again and again, or flooding the chat.
Leave alone: jokes, banter, complaints about the game, Pidgin, Twi, Ga, Ewe. Chat is supposed to be fun.
How long to mute (🔇)

Scam reports (full moderators)
- Held or frozen payment that looks like a scam: ↩️ Refund sender. If it's a normal payment: ✅ Release.
- Completed payment that was clearly a scam: 🛡️ Reverse takes back what the receiver still has.
- Not sure? Leave it for the team. Never reverse a payment between friends who just argued about it.
The rules for moderators
- Be fair. Same rules for your friends, your crew and strangers.
- Never ask anyone for money, gifts or favours, and never use the badge to win arguments.
- Don't share reports, mutes or what other moderators did outside the team.
- Every action goes in the moderation log, and the team checks it every week.
- Breaking these rules means losing the badge.
🛡️ Join the team: how we choose moderators
We're looking for 4 to 6 trial moderators to start, spread across the day so someone is always around: mornings, afternoons, evenings and late nights (Ghana time).
Who we're looking for
- Helpful. You already answer questions in chat ("how do I get a job?") and welcome new players.
- Calm and fair. You don't insult people or keep arguments going, and you'd treat your friends the same as strangers.
- Around. You play most days and can be in chat for a few hours.
- Trustworthy. You report scams and bad behaviour, and you've never been muted or reported for scamming.
- Bonus: languages. English plus Twi, Ga, Ewe, Hausa or Pidgin helps us understand everyone.
Requirements
- 18 or older.
- Played Accra Life for at least 7 days (players who joined at launch can apply from 12 October 2026).
- Never muted, no scam reports against you, and only one account. Second accounts mean an automatic no.
- Apply in the game: 📱 Phone → ⚙️ Game → 🛡️ Become a moderator. Tell us your hours, your languages and why you'd be good at it.
How we choose
| 1. Shortlist | We look at how you play: how long you've played and how often, whether you help other players in chat, whether your reports were right, and whether anyone has reported you. No popularity contest, and knowing the team doesn't help. |
| 2. Review | The founder reads every shortlisted application. |
| 3. A short chat | The best candidates get a quick WhatsApp voice chat with the founder. |
| 4. Trial | If chosen, you're a 🔰 Trial moderator for 2 weeks. We look at how you used the tools: fair removals, sensible mutes, no complaints. |
| 5. Full moderator | Good trials become 🛡️ Moderators. Anyone who misuses the badge loses it, during or after the trial. |
Not chosen this time? You can apply again later. We'll need more moderators as Accra Life grows.
